Tips for Submitting Your Work for Review
One of the most important considerations for photographing your paintings is lighting. If possible, photograph your painting outdoors when there is cloud cover, which will naturally diffuse the light. If photographing your work outdoors isn’t possible, choose a room with large windows and set up two lights aimed at a 45 degree angle towards the wall where your painting is hung. Hanging a white sheet between the light and the wall can help avoid bright spots or uneven lighting. Once you have the lighting right, make sure the painting fills most of the frame. Be sure that the edges of your painting are visible so that judges can gain a sense of scale.
